Jacksonville, FL – Nov. 20, 2009 Boree Canvas Unlimited, Inc., Jacksonville, FL, was recognized with the 2009 International Achievement Award (IAA) presented by the Industrial Fabrics Association International (IFAI) for its exceptional specialty fabric project.

“After winning Jacksonville’s Beautification/Renovation Award with this awning, we knew this was going to be the awning we were going to enter into our annual competition. Every year there are hundreds of entries, so we did not think much about winning. But we did, and it feels great to represent Boree Canvas Unlimited, Inc. and Jacksonville on an international level,” said Donnie Boree, president of Boree Canvas Unlimited, Inc.

Boree Canvas received an Outstanding Achievement Award for its Cesery Company project. The project was recognized in the competition’s Awnings, Commercial category.

“This award has really given us a moral boost around here. We have entered the competition for years now, and it feels great to finally have won and makes all the hard work pay off, said Kelly Schellenburger, supervisor of the fabricating shop of BCU.

Selected from 416 entries in 17 different countries, these winners represent many of today’s top professionals in the specialty fabrics industry. Entries in 28 categories were judged by a diverse panel of industry experts, editors, architects, educators and design professionals selected for their knowledge of the particular category of competition. Judging was based on complexity, design, workmanship, uniqueness and function.

The award ceremony took place at IFAI Expo 2009 at the San Diego Convention Center. IFAI Expo is the largest specialty fabrics trade show in the Americas.

The Industrial Fabrics Association International (IFAI) is the only trade association in the world representing the entire technical textiles industry value chain. IFAI was founded in 1912 and is today comprised of 2,100 member companies in 58 countries. IFAI supports a global membership with world-class trade shows and conferences.
